Directorate Changes

Cake Box Holdings plc, UK's largest retailer of fresh cream celebration cakes, today announces the following updates in relation to its board of directors ("Board").

 

Board Appointments

 

The Company is pleased to announce the following proposed two new Board appointments which, subject to the satisfactory completion of the necessary regulatory due diligence, are expected to take effect in early January 2025:

 

·    Catherine Nunn as a Non-Executive Director and as Chair of the ESG Committee; and

·    Malar Velaigam as a Non-Executive Director and as Chair of the Remuneration Committee.

 

 

Catherine Nunn

 

Catherine is a highly experienced CEO and retailer, having served as the UK Retail Director for BP between 2011 and 2016, where she held full P&L responsibility for the company's convenience and forecourt retail network including the partnership with Marks & Spencer. Prior to this role, Catherine held a variety of leadership positions in BP's European Retail operations over a 21 year career with the company.  

 

Since 2016 Catherine has been working with Lakeland Ltd and helping the family-owned retailer develop and implement their strategic plans and vision.

 

Catherine is also Non-Executive Director of AIM quoted company H&T Group plc and is a Non-Executive Board Member at the International Exhibition Co-operative Wine Society Limited (The Wine Society).

 

Malar Velaigam

 

Malar Velaigam brings over 15 years of extensive experience in the capital markets.  Malar Velaigam is currently Director at Dowgate Capital. Before Dowgate, she was Director at RBC Capital Markets from 2022 - 2024 helping to build its small and mid-cap presence. Prior to this she worked at Cavendish Financial from 2013-2022, joining the Management Committee in her later years where she advised on strategy and growth. Malar also serves as a Board Trustee and Secretary of the Sea & Marine Cadets, an organisation regulated by the Ministry of Defence.

 

Other Board Updates

 

Shaun Smith, independent Non-Executive Director, has indicated that he would like to step down from the Board and the Board has agreed that he will leave the Board on 31 December 2024. As previously announced, Alison Green is also stepping down from the Board and this will also take effect from 31 December 2024.

 

The Board has instigated a search to find a further new Non-Executive Director who can become the Chair of the Audit Committee and until that search is completed Martin Blair, Chair of the Board will be the Chair of the Audit Committee.
