Provider of tailored technology solutions to the transport industry, 21st Century Technology, announced a two-year contract from Transport for West Midlands, the transport arm of the West Midlands Combined Authority.

The AIM-traded company said the “strategically important” contract award included a customer option of an additional one-year extension through to March 2020, increasing the total contract value to approximately £0.4m.

It said its 21st Century Passenger Systems division had a “long-standing” relationship with TfWM, and the new contract extended the range of services provided to include a complete maintenance and support package for approximately 600 public travel information systems installed in and around bus shelters throughout the West Midlands region.

“We are delighted that TfWM have chosen 21st Century to provide service, support, and upgrade of their in-shelter passenger information systems across the TfWM region,” said 21st Century CEO Russ Singleton.

“As designers and manufacturers of the core technologies, including the screens and software, we are well positioned to deliver a fast, efficient and high-quality service.”

Gary Leek, principle information integrity officer for Transport for West Midlands, said the authority was “impressed” by the attention to detail that 21st Century applied during an audit of TfWM’s display screen estate.

“We are very much looking forward to building on the existing relationship with 21st Century as one of our trusted technology and service partners as we move towards Mobility as a Service (MaaS) public transport provision.”
