Digital music and radio services company 7digital announced on Monday that, as part of the Radioplayer Worldwide consortium, it has signed two new licensing agreements in Canada and Peru.

The AIM-traded firm has already licensed Radioplayer Worldwide in a number of territories, including Germany, Ireland, Austria, Norway and Belgium.

It said the latest deals with coalitions of broadcasters in Canada and Peru mark the first expansion of RPW to markets outside Europe and increases the total number of stations on the Radioplayer platform globally to more 2,000.

The deals will contribute to 7digital's revenues for 2016 and beyond, the board said.

7digital also updated that its client Cdiscount, a leading French e-commerce retailer, launched its new 3-in-1 music, video and books monthly subscription streaming service last week.

“The convergence of streamed radio and music sits at the heart of our strategy; 7digital has been part of the Radioplayer Worldwide consortium for some time and negotiated licensing deals in various territories to create new streaming platforms for radio,” said CEO Simon Cole.

“This is the first time that Radioplayer has extended into territories outside Europe, it paves the way for further opportunities and extends our involvement with key radio broadcasters around the world.”
