John Gormally has been appointed chief executive of medical device company Akers Biosciences.

The AIM-listed company announced the appointment on Monday, however said he will not sit on the board of directors.

Gormally will join the company after over 30 years at Becton Dickinson, where he was most recently Vice President, US Region Business Leader of Preanalytical Systems.

Chairman Raymond Akers Jr. said Gormally has highly relevant experience to lead the company’s commercialisation strategy.

“John has achieved tremendous success both in leading Becton Dickinson business units and in a smaller, early stage medical device business.”
