Galantas Gold announced the appointment of Alan Buckley as its chief financial officer on Wednesday.

The AIM-traded firm said the appointment, from 30 September, followed the reduction of work commitments by current non-board CFO Leo O'Shaughnessy, with Buckley's appointment also being non-board.

It said O'Shaughnessy had agreed to act as a consultant for a further six months following his departure, to ensure a seamless hand-over.

Galantas said Buckley is a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Chartered Accountants.

During his career, he has held the positions of chief financial officer and general manager at Vedanta Lisheen, and was chief financial officer for Anglo American Lisheen Mining.

He also has a continuing role as a director of Shanoon Resources - an early stage mining and exploration company, founded in 2016, which has operating licenses in County Kilkenny, Ireland.

“Leo has made a significant contribution to Galantas, which is much appreciated,” said president and chief executive officer Roland Phelps.

“I am delighted to welcome Alan into the CFO role.

“Galantas is at an exciting time in its development and I know that Alan's strong financial experience and extensive corporate background will be a great assistance to the company going forward.”

At 1442 BST, shares in Galantas Gold were down 1.2% at 20.26p.
