Cardiff-based full-cycle oil and gas company Amerisur Resources announced on Monday that it had begun drilling at another site within its Platanillo asset in Colombia.

The firm said that Platanillo-27, the 21st well of the drilling campaign, had been spudded and that logging was expected to take around 30 days to reach the project's target depth of 9,618 feet.

Amerisur also advised that it was expecting long-term testing to begin "shortly" on its CPO-5 contract after a recent visit by the Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos (ANH) to its Mariposa-1 location on 10 November.

As of 0930 GMT, shares had slipped 2.38% to 20.50p.
