Telecommunication software and solutions firm Artilium on Wednesday that it has agreed to support Lycamobile in Belgium with the implementation of a customer identification solution brought about through new anti-terrorism laws.
The AIM-traded company said the solution, which is designed to ensure secure and easy identification and authentication of Lycamobile’s prepaid customers, is being implemented to help the Belgian network operator comply with a new compulsory SIM card registration process.
Kristof VandePutte, chief operating officer of Artilium, said: "Our new partnership with Lycamobile is a direct response to the new anti-terrorism laws announced last year. Lycamobile are concerned about losing customers if the registration process is too cumbersome. We offer an elegant solution that makes the registration process incredibly simple for consumers."
Artilium’s advanced identity software meets new European legal requirements for the registration process for prepaid mobile phone SIM cards.
The company said its technology was selected by Lycamobile due to the unique optical scanning feature which means that customers will not need to manually enter their customer or personal data.
"The integrated Artilium KYC product enables Lycamobile to let legitimate customers easily register to use their innovative mobile services, which is key to their expansion into new markets throughout Europe as more countries pass similar laws for SIM card registration," said Vandeputte.
Lycamobile sells their services through over 4,000 retail outlets, has approximately 650,000 customers in Belgium and is expecting in excess of 40,000 new registrations every month.
As of 0830 BST, Artilium’s shares were down 2.70% at 18.00p.
