Real estate development company Barkby has acquired the leasehold of the Eliot Arms, a 19th-century village pub in South Cerney, Gloucestershire.

Barkby said the acquisition of the Eliot Arms marked its second acquisition in 2022, joining its portfolio of "very well-regarded pubs" in the Cotswolds region, including The Bull Hotel in Fairford and The Harcourt Arms in Stanton Harcourt.

Barkby Pubs' portfolio now consists of nine premises with a total of 75 rooms.

Chairman Charles Dickson said: "The Eliot Arms' location in the Gloucestershire countryside is highly complementary to our existing portfolio of premium pubs. The pub will offer a high-class F&B and accommodation experience, and I very much welcome the site into the Barkby Group."

As of 1400 GMT, Barkby shares were down 0.095% at 10.49p.
