Structural steel and construction safety specialist Billington Holdings announced on Friday that its structural steel division, Billington Structures, has been awarded two contracts with a combined value of £14m.

The AIM-traded firm said the contracts were awarded by two unnamed “prominent main contractors”.

It said the first was for a large distribution centre in the South West, and the other was for a “leading and distinguished” London university.

The contracts would lead the Group into a very busy second half of the year with a proportion of the work expected to carry over into 2018.

“The award of these two prestigious contracts is great news for Billington and is a testament to our team and our expertise,” said chief executive Mark Smith.

“We look forward to working closely with both contractors to successfully deliver these projects.”

Smith said the board believed that the croup could “look forward” to a busy second half of the year, and that the new contracts highlighted that there were “many positive” tender opportunities in the market.

“We look forward to keeping shareholders updated on the Group's progress in September upon the release of the interim results,” Mark Smith added.
