Cloud-based video editing platform developer Blackbird announced on Monday that its ‘Blackbird’ product was being used by 18 more United States television stations for digital news production, following the most recent deployment by its partner TownNews.

The AIM-traded firm said it was the fifth expansion of Blackbird by TownNews since the partnership began in 2018.

It said 69 US TV stations now used Blackbird to rapidly access, edit and publish news content to social and web platforms.

The company explained that, when paired with the ‘Field59 VMS’ product from TownNews, stories could be delivered to viewers with superior speed and control.

US TV stations using Blackbird now spanned 35 states.

“We are thrilled to expand our services with TownNews to 69 news stations across 35 states from the two we started with back in 2018,” said chief executive officer Ian McDonough.

“This is an excellent example of the 'Blackbird inside' original equipment manufacturer strategy working and a superb endorsement of our technology in the fast-paced environment of news production.”

At 1045 BST, shares in Blackbird were up 6.19% at 25.75p.
