Cybersecurity firm Brandshield Systems said on Tuesday that it had secured a contract in the celebrity merchandise sector.

BrandShield stated it had been selected by the unnamed customer to deal with the online abuse of its brand and sales of counterfeit merchandise related to the celebrity, with the customer set to use the company's capabilities in detecting brand abuse across standalone websites, eCommerce marketplaces and social media networks.

The AIM-listed firm highlighted that it was seeing "an increased demand" for online brand protection and threat hunting from celebrities, social media influencers, content creators and artists.

Chief executive Yoav Keren said: "BrandShield has been chosen by the celebrity franchise to directly protect its revenues from fraudsters who look to use impersonation methods to deceive potential customers. It will also be of direct benefit to the official licencees of the celerity brand that sell legitimate merchandise.

"This contract, protecting the online reputation of a global celebrity brand, is further evidence of the cross-sector appeal of the BrandShield solution as we continue to expand into an increasingly diverse portfolio of clients."

As of 0900 BST, Brandshield shares were up 3.58% at 17.35p.
