CentralNic wins .ooo domain distribution deal from Infibeam
Software platform company CentralNic has secured the distribution contract for the top-level domain ‘.ooo’ from Infibeam Incorporation, an e-commerce company listed on the India Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of more than $1bn, it announced on Monday.
The AIM-traded firm explained that, in the fast-growing e-commerce industry, Infibeam operated a “unique business model” with a mix of its shopping destination properties and Infibeam Web Services, which include an online ecommerce platform, payments, logistics and digital marketing, to merchants globally.
It said the .ooo registry business placed Infibeam in a “strong position” as new, affordable alternative to .com, tailor-made for large-scale usage in existing and emerging markets, along with being a digital transformation tool for existing businesses to find online markets and for new business ideas to be realised.
In addition to that, in Russia and other markets, ‘ooo’ is a common abbreviation for limited liability company.
“Anyone who has followed the Infibeam story from its launch only 10 years ago to its current scale and growth rate could not doubt that Vishal Mehta and his team have the expertise, resources and track record of success to make .ooo a leading global domain,” said CentralNic CEO Ben Crawford.
“We are delighted to have been chosen as their partner for the global expansion phase of this business, as the first step towards a closer cooperation between our companies.”
Vishal Mehta, managing director at Infibeam, said the .ooo internet registry platform was amongst his company’s top business portfolio offerings.
“We are happy to select CentralNic as a partner and we are confident that we are set up to achieve that growth.
“We are also exploring other ways to collaborate with CentralNic for future benefit.”
