Chariot Oil & Gas embarked on an ambitious survey on Thursday, beginning a 3D seismic acquisition survey of around 303 square miles at its 100% owned licences in the Barreirinhas basin, offshore Brazil.

The Atlantic margins-focused oil and gas exploration company said the survey was being conducted by Polarcus.

"Further to the approval of the Environment Impact Assessment in October 2015, Cahriot is now able to carry out its 3D seismic programme which will fulfil all commitments on the licences," the company's board confirmed in a statement.

It said that, following the analysis of legacy 2D seismic data over the blocks, it had identified a number of leads which will be targeted by the 3D survey to mature their prospectivity.

Chariot said the survey was expected to take around 30 days to complete..
