Medical screening specialist ClearStar made Jennifer Balleza its permanent chief financial officer on Tuesday after having served in the role on an interim basis since January.

Balleza joined ClearStar as its corporate controller from Atlanta-based business Aprio in 2014, ahead of the company's IPO, and was responsible for managing the group's financial reporting, compliance and accounting.

The AIM-listed company said it was "delighted" Balleza would be taking on the permanent position, allowing a "seamless transition".

Chief executive Robert Vale said: "Since joining ClearStar five years ago, Jennifer has played an instrumental role in our finance function and has performed excellently as Interim CFO.

"We look forward to continuing to benefit from her considerable skills and experience as part of the ClearStar team as we remain focused on growing our business."

As of 1040 BST, ClearStar shares had ticked up 2.33% to 66p.
