Video game developer and publisher Codemasters announced the release of ‘F1 2020’ on Friday, on the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, and PC platforms and, for the first time, Google’s Stadia gaming platform.

The AIM-traded firm described F1 2020 as “one of the highest-scoring games” of the year according to aggregator site Metacritic, averaging 91% on Xbox, 89% on PC and 86% on PlayStation 4.

It also announced the release of the ‘Deluxe Schumacher Edition’ featuring four additional cars from Michael Schumacher’s career, car liveries, race equipment and an exclusive podium emote.

“We have been overwhelmed with the response from both the media and our players,” said chief executive officer Frank Sagnier.

“[The] ‘My Team’ [feature] has been 10 years in the making, and it's been worth the wait.

“With the revised F1 2020 season starting last weekend, the stars have aligned, and both the sport and videogame are back in the spotlight where they belong.”

At 1127 BST, shares in Codemasters Group Holdings were up 2.59% at 336.49p.
