Irish mineral exploration and development firm Connemara Mining announced on Wednesday that further diamond drilling was set to begin at its Inishowen Gold Project in Donegal next Monday.

Connemara Mining said it had initial plans to test the geometry and extension of gold-bearing veins that had been discovered in 2016 and would also conduct additional mapping and sampling over the wider area.

Chairman of Connemara John Teeling, said, "We need to find out if the gold-bearing veins discovered in 2016 extend across the licence. Other operations in bordering County Tyrone in similar geological settings include the Galántas Gold Corp's operating Omagh Gold Mine and the significant gold reserve established at Dalradian Resources' Curraghinalt Project."

The Inishowen project is made up of eleven contiguous prospecting licences considered to be highly prospective for mesothermal gold.

As of 1040 BST, shares had dipped 3% to 2.45p.
