Palm oil developer DekelOil Public has begun a pilot production test at its Ivory Coast project, which is expected to boost sales and profitability once fully operational.

The London-listed company confirmed a pilot scheme at the kernel crushing plant at its 51%-owned Ayenouan palm oil project had started, with production expected to begin in the next few weeks.

"The kernel crushing plant will significantly enhance the economics of our Ayenouan project," said group executive director Lincoln Moore.

"With the testing phase now underway, it is clear that we will deliver this asset on time, and we look forward to entering 2016 with an additional revenue stream ahead of peak production season.”

DekelOil shares were up 2.05% to 0.995p at 0904 BST on Monday.
