Global surveillance, security and safety solutions provider Digital Barriers announced the award of a contract with a major unnamed US federal law enforcement agency valued at $11.9m on Monday, which it said had been received before the expiration of a major framework contract in September.

The AIM-traded firm said the award was for the supply of specialist surveillance equipment from one of the group's partners, which the agency used alongside its installed base of Digital Barriers technology.

Although the products carried material lead times, the group said it would endeavour to deliver the contract before the end of the current financial year.

The contract was expected to generate slightly lower margins than were usually generated from the group's Brimtek division.

“This contract is for partner technology into one of our most strategically important customers,” said Digital Barriers chief executive officer Zak Doffman.

“Although this award is not for Digital Barriers technology, we are now a trusted supplier into this and a number of other flagship US agencies, all of whom have become material users of our proprietary technologies.”

The company added that it would announce results for the financial year ended 31 March in September.
