RedLeg, a brand of spiced rum made by Distil, has been approved for sale in the US from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

The regulator's decision follows its approval for Distil's Blavod Black Vodka and Blackwoods Gin last year.

Don Goulding, executive chairman of the AIM-listed company, which changed its name from Blavod Wines & Spirits in 2014, said: "We look forward to expanding our US operations through the introduction to the US market of what has been the company's most prominent brand in recent times."

Last month, Distil revealed that its fourth quarter had seen revenues climb 66% as volumes rose 76% on the back of a 61% increase in brand marketing.

In March the company raised £626,259 to invest in new market launches and brand marketing in the UK and internationally.
