Edenville Energy announced on Friday that construction of the wash plant at its Rukwa Coal Project site has now been completed.

The AIM-traded firm said the plant was currently undergoing final commissioning and testing, with the goal to be producing washed coal for sale in the next week.

In addition to the completion of the wash plant, Edenville said the weighbridge had been installed, and support services such as the laboratory, offices and stores were in final construction.

Following commissioning, the wash plant would process material to fulfil requests for coal that had already been made.

The board said “several major industrial users” had also requested test shipments, and it would be dispatching those over the coming weeks.

“The construction team has worked hard in challenging conditions to get the wash plant operational and this has now been achieved,” said Edenville CEO Rufus Short.

“We are now ready to start producing washed coal immediately following final commissioning.”

Short said the intention was to process “several thousand tonnes” of run of mine coal in October to produce a range of washed coal products for delivery to several end users.

“We look forward to providing further updates on the progress of the project in the coming weeks, including with regard to coal sales and contracts.”
