Edenville Energy announced on Wednesday that the second stage of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for its integrated coal-to-power project in western Tanzania - the Scoping Study - had now been completed with the relevant documents being approved by the Tanzanian National Environment Management Council.

The AIM-traded company said the final stage was completion of the main ESIA report which will include extensive data and consultation with the local community and stakeholders.

It said the comprehensive report will then be submitted to the NEMC for review and approval.

Subsequently, management believe that the ESIA process will then be complete subject to any specific recommendations or instructions.

“It is planned the final stage of the ESIA is completed in parallel with the bankable feasibility study for the power plant,” the board said in a statement.

“An integrated approach will ensure all necessary technical, environmental and social considerations are taken into account when completing these specific areas.

“We look forward to providing further updates as the work progresses towards completion.”
