Filta Group shares surge on launch of coronavirus sanitiser

Commercial kitchens services provider Filta Group launched a new sanitising service to help businesses combat and prevent the spread of Covid-19 on Thursday.

Filta said FiltaShield, a result of close work with industry experts and specialist chemical suppliers, was a laboratory-tested sanitising solution effective against all enveloped viruses, killing them within minutes.

The AIM-listed group also said that as part of its efforts to tackle Covid-19 and help businesses and public bodies adapt to new safety requirements, it has teamed up with a technology supplier to supply and manage temperature screening devices for its customers, which can screen up to 30 people per second for a fever.

Chief executive Jason Sayers said: "Filta has always sought to adapt to the needs of its customers, and has already seen a growing number of orders from existing clients, as well as interest from businesses outside of our traditional customer base of restaurants and hospitality.

"Whilst FiltaShield is currently only available in the UK, we will look to roll out this service in the US and Europe in due course."

As of 1030 BST, Filta shares had shot up 51.05% to 108p.
