Home safety products company FireAngel announced an ‘internet-of-things’ (IoT) rollout partnership with the London Borough of Ealing on Tuesday.

The AIM-traded firm had announced on 30 June that it received a material initial purchase order for its first large-scale connected homes technology rollout for a large London borough council.

It confirmed the order as coming from Ealing Council on Tuesday, adding that the council was undertaking a “significant programme” of regeneration for many of its properties and estates.

As part of the plans, it partnered with FireAngel to implement “one of the biggest” IoT rollouts of its kind by a UK social housing provider.

FireAngel said the use of its connected technology would eliminate much of the costly requirement to gain physical access to properties, as data would be transmitted wirelessly in real-time through a secure cloud network.

“The interview in Housing Technology magazine showcases FireAngel's unique technology and clearly articulates the benefits available to social housing landlords in deploying our affordable solution,” said executive chairman John Conoley.

“As previously announced, the Ealing rollout is on track to commence this month, with installation of the network backbone followed by the installation of alarms in individual flats.”

At 1420 GMT, shares in FireAngel Safety Technology Group were up 3.5% at 11.38p.
