Fishing tackle retail business, Fishing Republic has opened another 'destination' store. Located in Gloucester, the new store which opened over the weekend will expand the group's presence in the West England area.

At 6,000 square feet, the store is the sixth 'destination' property to open its doors this year, with a further property to commence trading before the end of August in Huttingdon, Cambridgeshire, taking the company's store network to 19.

Steve Gross, chief executive officer of the group, said, "Fishing Republic has significantly expanded its store network over the last few months and I am delighted to announce our latest store opening, in line with our expansion plans for the year. Located in Gloucester, it increases our presence in the West of England. By the end of August, a further store opening in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire will complement our existing presence in that region and take our expanding network to 19 stores."

Fishing Republic believes the 'destination' stores will also help drive online sales as it looks to execute its multi-channel growth model.

As of 1435 BST, shares in the company had seen a healthy gain, up 18.38% to 38.00p
