Forbidden Technologies has won a contract with e-sports organiser Gfinity to provide its Forscene cloud-based video-editing software.

Forbidden said its fellow AIM-listed company will use the software to help grow their fan base through faster and improved use of video in social media and improved use of archived video content.

Gfinity organises the Elite series, where professional e-sports teams compete in three video games in a series of independent tournaments in front of a live audience and streamed online, plus also has staged tournaments for games publishers and brands including 'Call of Duty', 'FIFA', 'Rocket League', 'Street Fighter V', and 'Forza Racing Championship'.

The e-sports market is predicted in 2017 to generate global revenues of $696m, up 41% on the prior year, via an expected audience of regular and occasional viewers of 385m.

Forbidden chairman David Main said: "The eSports market is an exciting new high growth sports category for us. Our Forscene cloud video platform provides a range of core capabilities, including live clipping for social media and exploiting the value of archive content for this innovative and demanding new sector. Our range of applications helps address the range of video requirements for fan engagement."

Gfinity said it was looking for a video software to help grow its fan base and improve engagement with them, with the intention of using Forscene to quickly edit and publish video of live events into social media.
