AIM-listed game developer Frontier Developments has released its second self-published franchise on Thursday.

The new franchise, Planet Coaster, builds on the company's experience with rollercoaster park simulation games, as it previously released a game in the genre, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, which is still selling today after three decades since first release.

Chief executive David Braben said he was delighted with the reception from players of the alpha and beta versions of the game.

“Planet Coaster released on schedule, and now Frontier is earning revenue from both its self-published franchises marking the end of our transition. We're looking forward to continuing to develop Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster whilst growing our portfolio with new franchises."

Shares in Frontier Developments were up 0.25% to 200p at 0802 GMT.
