Intellectual property investor Frontier IP announced on Wednesday that its portfolio company Alusid has signed its first international distribution agreement with Dutch sustainable materials platform Front Materials.

The AIM-traded firm said the agreement granted Front exclusive rights to distribute Alusid’s wall and floor tile ranges in the Netherlands, along with non-exclusive rights to distribute in the rest of Europe and the United States.

Alusid, in which Frontier IP holds a 35.4% equity stake, produces sustainable tiles made almost entirely from recycled industrial waste.

The tiles have a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to traditional alternatives, the company said, aligning with growing demand for eco-friendly building materials.

Front, formerly known as StoneCycling, had established itself as a leader in sustainable building materials with products such as the WasteBasedBrick, BioBasedTile, and CornWall, Frontier IP noted.

The company rebranded in 2024 to reflect its broader ambition to provide architects and developers with sustainable options for all visible areas of buildings.

Alusid was also in discussions with additional distributors internationally, the firm added, aiming to expand its reach further and support the construction industry's shift toward sustainability.

“Alusid is helping to address issues around the sustainable use of materials and carbon emissions of concern to consumers and the building industry worldwide,” said chief executive officer Neil Crabb.

“We believe the Company's innovative surfaces, and wall and floor tiles, have the potential to achieve significant market share globally in the sustainable materials area.

“This agreement with Front Materials provides further, strong validation of Alusid's approach.”

At 1142 GMT, shares in Frontier IP Group were down 1.58% at 24.31p.
