Gfinity appoints former Rangers FC CEO to new board role
eSports solutions provider Gfinity on Thursday appointed experienced sports and media executive Graham Wallace to its board and to the newly created role of global chief operating officer.
The AIM traded company said that Wallace and recently appointed executive chairman Garry Cook will be responsible for managing Gfinity's global business operations and focusing on delivery of its strategy and growth targets.
Garry Cook, executive chairman, said: "On behalf of the board I would like to welcome Graham to Gfinity. His leadership and operational skills, combined with extensive knowledge of the media, sports and entertainment sectors will be invaluable as we begin to write the next chapter of the Gfinity story."
Chartered accountant Wallace has held senior positions at sports and entertainment firms such as Viacom, MTV Networks Europe and IMG Media in a career spanning more than two decades.
He has also been chief operating officer at Manchester City and served as chief executive of Rangers FC where he led the rebuilding of the club following its demotion and exit from administration.
"The esports industry is expected to grow to $1.65bn globally by 2021. With a clear strategy and an experienced leadership team now in place, Gfinity will be able to take full advantage of this growth and build upon its position as a world leader in the esports community," said Cook.
As of 1016 BST, Gfinity’s shares were unchanged at 12.62p.
