E-sports and gaming specialist Gfinity announced on Wednesday that its wholly-owned Athlos Game Technologies subsidiary has entered a one-year rolling commercial agreement with global mobile game operator Playgendary.

The AIM-traded firm said the ‘Athlos Tournament Platform’ would be integrated into Playgendary games starting this year.

It said the game titles would be announced as they were ready to be launched.

Under the agreement, Athlos would be paid a monthly fee based on the number of active users.

The company described the financial terms as “commercially sensitive”, and so would not be publicly disclosed.

“We are delighted to join forces with the Playgendary team,” said Gfinity chairman Neville Upton.

“Most gaming spend is now in-game and competitive players spend significantly more than casual gamers.

“This means our market leading technology can deliver a significant and direct cash benefit to publishers.”

Upton described Playgendary as “one of the world's leading” mobile game publishers, with “excellent” games and a “strong pipeline” of new titles.

“The commercial model means that as competitive play within the games grows, so does Athlos' recurring revenue stream.

“This is one of many similar deals that we aim to enter into with game publishers big and small.”

At 1557 GMT, shares in Gfinity were up 4.37% at 0.54p.
