Good Energy has followed larger energy supply rivals like British Gas and E.On with its own 7.2% cut to gas prices.

The AIM-listed renewable energy supplier said it would cut gas prices for new and existing domestic customers from 1 April, with the result being an annual saving of £42 for dual gas and electricity customer.

Good Fuel pointed out that this saving was larger than the £32 average saving the 'Big Six' were offering through their gas price trimming.

"Today's announcement further strengthens our competitive pricing, 100% renewable electricity and award-winning customer service proposition to new and existing customers," said founder and CEO Juliet Davenport.

Centrica's British Gas on Thursday announced a 5.1% cut from 16 March, Npower announced earlier this week a 5.2% reduction from the end of March, while E.On cut its gas prices by 5.1% on 1 February.

Scottish Power will cut its gas tariff by 5.4% on 15 March, and SSE will cut its prices by 5.3% from 29 March.
