Precious and base metals exploration and development company Greatland Gold has commenced its first exploration campaign at its 100%-owned Black Hills licence in the Paterson region of Western Australia, it announced on Monday.

The AIM-traded firm said its first exploration campaign at Black Hills, which included plans for surface geochemical sampling and geological mapping, was designed to determine the areas with the greatest potential for high-grade gold mineralisation, and to outline potential drill targets.

It said a recent review of historic data highlighted the potential for high-grade, near-surface gold mineralisation at several prospects throughout the Black Hills licence, including Saddle Reefs, Eastern, Rogers and Northern Granites.

“We are very pleased to commence Greatland's first exploration campaign at Black Hills,” said chief executive officer Gervaise Heddle.

“Black Hills represents a compelling exploration opportunity for the Company with the potential for several zones of high-grade, near-surface gold mineralisation.

“If results from this exploration campaign are positive, then it is our current intention to rapidly advance exploration at Black Hills over the next six months.”
