Greatland Gold has detected high-grade gold in multiple rock chip samples from its Black Hills asset in the Paterson region of Western Australia.

Greatland collected a total of 28 rock chip samples over the Saddle Reefs prospect - 11 of which returned gold values in excess of 10 grams per tonne and silver values as high as 106.1 grams per tonne.

The precious and base metals firm said the results from its June exploration programme had roughly quadrupled the strike length of gold mineralization identified at the surface from 200 metres to around 800 metres.

Gervaise Heddle, Greatland's chief executive, said: "We are delighted by these results which significantly extend the strike length of surface gold mineralisation at the Saddle Reefs prospect and further highlight the potential for Black Hills to host a large, high-grade gold deposit."

"Given these exciting results, we intend to quickly move forward with our exploration efforts at Black Hills and we look forward to receiving the results from the recent 3DIP survey which will be used to assist with planning Greatland's first drill campaign at Black Hills," added Heddle.

As of 1110 BST, Greatland shares had surged 18.77% to 1.26p.
