Precious and base metals exploration and development company Greatland Gold announced on Thursday that its received approval to commence drilling at the Bromus project in Western Australia, from the Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum.

The AIM-traded firm said the programme of work application included permission for two drill holes, both of which would utilise existing drill pads to target highly conductive targets which were identified by recent downhole EM surveys.

It said the two targets were relatively shallow, well constrained by modelling and could be drilled from existing drill pads, thereby reducing the overall cost of the drilling campaign.

Drilling was expected to commence within the next few weeks, and Greatland said it would make a further announcement at that time.

“We are very pleased to be able to move forward with drilling at the Bromus project,” said chief executive officer Gervaise Heddle.

“This drilling campaign will target two of the highly conductive targets that were identified by downhole EM modelling late last year and which, in the opinion of Southern Geosciences Consultants, represent high priority targets for massive sulphide mineralisation.

“We expect drilling to commence within the next few weeks. We will make further announcements as appropriate.”
