Harland & Wolff Group announced the successful award of a contract valued at $1.5m for its newly established Miami office on Tuesday.
The AIM-traded firm said the contract would support TampaShip, a division of the Edison Chouest Group in Tampa, Florida, in constructing a floating dock for the Bollinger shipyard facility in the Gulf of Mexico.
It said the fabrication work for the project had already started and was expected to reach completion within the next three months.
Harland & Wolff Group said it was actively building its portfolio of opportunities within the United States.
“I am delighted that we have signed our first contract in the US within less than six months of establishing our business in Florida,” said chief executive officer John Wood.
“The North American opportunity is substantial across all our five markets and our new team is working hard to convert these opportunities into firm contracts, not only for the US business itself, but also for cross-border transactions between US clients and our facilities in the UK.”
At 1428 GMT, shares in Harland & Wolff Group Holdings were up 0.34% at 14.8p.
