International Greetings, the designer and distributor of gift packaging and greetings cards, said on Monday it was on target to delivering full year earnings per share growth in line with expectations.

In a trading update for the third quarter, the group reported a strong performance over the Christmas period.

“Results remain in line with expectations with all regions trading profitably,” the company said.

New giftwrap manufacturing facilities in Wales and Holland boosted volumes and the group achieved record sales in the US.

The company’s operations in China “performed well” and market share grew in Australia.

"The group's overall progress is very encouraging and reflects our focus on providing great products, design and service to our customers around the world,” said chief executive Paul Fineman.

Shares fell 5.12% to 175.05p at the close of trading.
