AIM-listed energy storage and clean fuel company ITM Power has signed a fuel contract with Anglo American which covers fuel dispensed across its hydrogen refuelling network.

This marks the company’s seventh fuel supply contract for refuelling fuel cell electric vehicles. ITM, which is currently rolling out a network of 10 hydrogen refuelling stations in the UK, has already signed Europcar, Hyundai, Toyota, Commercial Group, Arcola Energy and Arval.

Chief executive officer Graham Cooley said: “Anglo American is a most welcome customer for ITM Power and we look forward to further supporting their refuelling requirements as our hydrogen refuelling station network expands throughout the UK."

Andrew Hinkly, executive head of marketing at Anglo American Platinum, said the use of zero emissions hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles is set to increase to meet the more challenging emissions targets being set around the world.

“Rapid refuelling and the use of a renewable clean fuel offers a significant advantage. We are excited to support the expansion of the hydrogen refuelling network and refuel at ITM Power's hydrogen stations,” he said.

At 1408 GMT, the shares were up 0.8% to 23.55p.
