Online Indian fashion retailer Koovs has signed a new distribution agreement with Souq.com as part of it strategy to expand in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East.

Koovs’ private label collection will be sold on Souq.com, which Amazon has recently said it will buy for about $800m, to customers in the Middle East this summer.

The private label collection currently accounts for 40% of the company’s online sales.

The AIM-listed company said that by working with international distribution and fulfilment partners it will allow it focus on India, its core territory.

Koovs chief executive Mary Turner said: "This is a great opportunity and I am excited to extend the Koovs brand into new territories with our first distribution deal for the Middle East.

“India remains our core market and the Private Label Collection will only be available in India on Koovs.com."

Shares in Koovs were up 1.98% to 54.05p at 0949 BST.
