Hemodynamic monitoring company LiDCO was busy in the US capital this week, showing off its new technology LiDCOunity monitor at the 2016 Annual Congress of Advanced Recovery and Perioperative Medicine.

The conference is currently being held in Washington, D.C.

LiDCO’s board said interest in enhanced recovery programmes in the US has been growing since the late 2000s, with the Duke University Enhanced Recovery Programme starting in 2010.

Since then, many centres around the country started similar programmes, it explained.

The LiDCOunity product combines all of LiDCO’s technology, allowing the patient to be monitored across the entire clinical pathway on a single monitor.

It was recently granted approval by the Food and Drug Administration.

"Given our increasing presence in the US, having been awarded a five year purchasing agreement by MedAssets, launching our new product in the US has additional importance,” said LiDCO CEO Matt Sassone.

“With the growing clinical adoption of Enhanced Recovery programmes in the US it is important for us to attend this congress. We can meet like-minded professionals who are looking for new technologies to improve operating procedures and patient outcomes."
