Milestone announced a milestone for its joint venture on Thursday, with its Nexstar joint venture partner Black Cactus signing music and media firm Rock Solid to utilise its music publishing platform Backstage HD.

The AIM-traded company said the platform will provide a one-stop shop technical solution for musicians, recording artists, independent labels and the music industry as a whole.

It said Rock Solid will use the Backstage HD platform to help them manage and develop their stable of artists quickly and cost-effectively.

The first artist to launch on the platform from Rock Solid will be East London rapper, singer and producer Jammin.

"This move ensures Rock Solid's relevance in an ever-changing marketplace. We now have the technology to give artists the global reach of a record label whilst maintaining their rights,” said Rock Solid CEO Keith Johnson.

“This gives license for a new level of artist integrity, the music industry will never be the same again."

Milestone’s board confirmed Nexstar will receive a revenue share per transaction, which includes sales of music, ticket sales and advertising revenue.

"This latest contract for the Nexstar JV is the start of an exciting new direction for the company,” explained Milestone’s CEO Deborah White.

“The technology offered via Black Cactus provides Nexstar with the ability to offer artists a new simple multi channel marketing and distribution solution,” she added.
