Communications and radiofrequency technology company MTI Wireless Edge announced new orders for its antenna division on Monday.

The AIM-traded firm said the orders, worth around $0.65m, were for its 5G backhaul antenna solution, and would be supplied this quarter.

It said the orders came from an existing customer, to be deployed in India.

“We have been waiting for the 5G backhaul market to accelerate its deployment and we now see more opportunities in the market,” said antenna division general manager Dov Feiner.

“It is clear that India is going to be the most significant initial market for the solution, but we also see demand from other territories.”

Feiner said MTI believed it currently offered “the most comprehensive solutions” in the market, including flat antennas, single-band, dual-band and automatic beam-steering antennas, as it worked closely with “leading” original equipment manufacturers.

“These orders represent our first significant orders for immediate deployment and we are excited by the opportunity ahead of us.”

At 1419 BST, shares in MTI Wireless Edge were up 1.1% at 45.49p.
