Online retailer MusicMagpie revealed on Tuesday that Matthew Fowler will soon join the group as its new chief financial officer.

MusicMagpie said Fowler, whose start date will be confirmed in due course, will succeed Ian Storey as CFO after the latter's promotion to group chief operating officer at the time of the company's initial public offering in April.

Fowler joins the AIM-listed group from molecular diagnostics company Genedrive, where took over as CFO in 2016. Prior to joining Genedrive, he spent eight years as group financial controller of manufacturing business Scapa.

Chairman Martin Hellawell said: "On behalf of the board, I am delighted to be welcoming Matthew to musicMagpie. His experience of working in senior positions for AIM-quoted companies and his considerable financial and operational expertise will be hugely beneficial to MusicMagpie as it continues its journey as a public company."

As of 1005 GMT, MusicMagpie shares were up 1.53% at 166.0p.
