Building and support services provider Northern Bear released a promising trading update on Tuesday, ahead of its annual general meeting taking place later in the day.

The AIM-traded firm said that since the publication of its preliminary results on 17 July, it had maintained trading consistent with management forecasts.

It said trading figures for the new financial year, covering 1 April to 31 July, had outperformed the results from the prior year's corresponding period.

That came despite persistent economic challenges and the subsequent effect on the construction sector, with the company's site activity levels remaining robust.

“I am delighted that whilst relatively early in the group's financial year, our forward order book remains robust and is expected to support full year results in line with management's and the market's expectations,” said non-executive chairman Jeff Baryshnik.
