Avesoro Resources announced on Thursday that a pit wall and ramp failure occurred in the Kinjor pit at its New Liberty Gold mine in Liberia, on 1 October.

The AIM-traded firm said the site experienced a wall and ramp failure in the north side of the Kinjor-east pit.

There were no injuries or equipment damage arising from the event, the board confirmed.

“However, mining activities within the Kinjor-East pit have been suspended pending an assessment of the impact of the event,” the board said in its statement.

“Mining is continuing at the Marvoe and Kinjor-South pits at New Liberty, but ore production volumes will be reduced for some time as a result of the event.”

The board added that, further to its announcement on 20 August, the firm’s gold production and cost guidance for the 2019 full year remained under review.
