Plastic-to-hydrogen technology company Powerhouse Energy Group announced the appointment of Paul Drennan-Durose as its new chief executive officer on Monday.

The AIM-traded firm said Drennan-Durose had “many years” of board-level experience in technology, distribution, engineering services, and manufacturing companies.

His experience included work in the cleantech energy, oil and gas, waste-to-energy, process manufacturing, marine, and the automotive industries.

Powerhouse’s board said Drennan-Durose would bring “significant and diverse” commercial, strategic, tactical and transformation experience to the company.

“I am excited to be joining Powerhouse as we aim to become a global leader in technology solutions that will help the world transition to clean energy, as well as help to remove plastic from environments worldwide,” said Paul Drennan-Durose.

“It is set to be an exciting and busy year for Powerhouse which I look forward to leading, especially the build of the first facility at Protos.”

Paul Drennan-Durose would join Powerhouse on 14 February, having spent more than three years as the investor-appointed CEO at Heliex Power - a private equity-backed cleantech energy business.

While there, he oversaw the start-up’s transformation, including the roll-out of its technical and commercial market recovery.

“Paul is a valuable addition to the Powerhouse board and will bring his expertise in driving strategy, investment and delivery,” said chairman James Greenstreet.

“Growing Powerhouse internationally with the roll-out of our clean energy technology is a key priority for Paul and will help ensure that Powerhouse will be part of the solution to tackling the world’s waste problem.”

At 1238 GMT, shares in Powerhouse Energy Group were up 6.7% at 3.87p.
