Range Resources gets drilling operation underway in Trinidad

Oil and gas explorer Range Resources has begun drilling its second exploration well in Trinidad, which will be drilled deeper than originally planned.

The London-listed company said GY 180SE, the second of its 22-well programme was spudded on 4 November after the company incurred a series of delays over the acquisition of additional road approvals from local authorities.

Range said it expects the well to be drilled to a total depth of 2,000 ft compared to the original plan to drill down 1,820 ft and it forecast drilling to be completed by 25 November.

Meanwhile, the group added the vessel carrying three new rigs has arrived in Trinidad and it was arranging for the rigs to be offloaded and transported to the site to be used from the first quarter of next year.

Range shares were down 1.22% to 0.406p at 1241 GMT on Monday.
