Sports nutrition company Science in Sport announced that it was now the official sports nutrition supplier to British Triathlon on Thursday, and would supply British triathletes across both the Olympic and Paralympic National Lottery-funded programmes, including Tom Bishop, Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, Lucy Hall and Alison Patrick.

The AIM-traded firm said the supplier deal would see SiS working closely with British triathletes, as well as performance and nutrition staff.

SiS would support the Great Britain triathlon and paratriathlon teams as they began their journey to 2020.

The Great Britain triathlon team would work directly with SiS and its team of sports nutrition experts to create bespoke nutritional strategies to fuel their “world-class athletes”, the company’s board explained.

Nutrition plans would be tailored for each individual athlete, and include a wide range of SiS products, including the company's isotonic ‘GO Gels’ for energy, ‘REGO Rapid Recovery’ to aid recovery after exercise and ‘WHEY20’ protein product.

In addition to the British triathlon team, SiS said it would engage with a growing audience of more than 80,000 triathletes across the event portfolio and the British Triathlon databases.

Triathletes would benefit from exclusive offers from SiS, as well as nutritional guidance for all levels of triathlete.

“We are delighted to have signed this agreement with the British Triathlon in the lead up to Tokyo 2020 and are looking forward to supporting not only the elite teams, but also the substantial audience of amateur triathlon competitors,” said Science in Sport chief executive Stephen Moon.

“We are now official nutrition partner to four national governing bodies around the world and this is testament to the quality of our science and innovation capability, product superiority and our best in class approach to banned substance testing.”

British Triathlon Federation chief executive officer Jack Buckner said the organisation was “pleased” to confirm the partnership with SiS.

“Nutrition is an integral and critical component of every athlete's success and the SiS world-renowned experts ensure our national teams are in great hands.

“With our elite athletes having the opportunity to work alongside SiS staff to tailor their own plans, and all our members having access to the SiS expertise, we look forward to seeing all our triathletes achieve their very best.”
