Seeing Machines to fit 850 John Christner trucks with safety technology
Seeing Machines on Thursday signed a five-year contract with John Christner Trucking to install its fleet of 850 trucks with Guardian, the company’s fatigue and distraction prevention technology
The AIM traded computer vision technology firm said John Christner Trucking is "one of the leading refrigeration carriers across North America," and that the agreement follows similar deals with firms including Megabus (Coach USA), Royal Foods and Bison Transport.
Paul Angelatos, general manager of fleet, rail and off-road at Seeing Machines, said: "This family owned and run business truly focuses on driver safety and we are very pleased to be able to contribute to ensuring that their drivers get home to their families at the end of each shift."
Guardian technology uses vision technology to detect and minimise driver fatigue and distraction events and associated accidents in commercial fleet applications.
According to Seeing Machines, the system has demonstrated it can achieve over 90% reduction in fatigue and distraction related driver events.
The system alerts drivers when fatigue or distraction is detected and is connected to a monitoring centre and cloud analytics engine that gives fleet owners a variety of customisable intervention and analytics programs to complement their driver training and wellness initiatives.
"We are delighted to be working with John Christner Trucking. Adoption of Guardian, our fatigue and distraction prevention technology, is building momentum worldwide and this agreement further strengthens our position as a leading provider of transport safety technology," said Angelatos.
As of 0852 BST, Seeing Machines’ shares were up 3.66% at 12.05p.
