SRT Marine Systems, a provider of maritime tracking, management and surveillance products and technologies, announced on Friday it had received an order for 200 AIS Aids to Navigation (AtoN) transceivers for immediate delivery.

The order constituted the largest single deployment of the transceivers in history and will be installed along a European waterway to enhance traffic control, monitor buoy locations and for continuous real time observation of the local maritime environment and weather.

SRT noted that it took a year of evaluation and testing on a variety of technological, quality and reliability factors before its customer had reached its decision.

"AIS AtoN is still a relatively new addition to the growing AIS big data eco-system and orders will take time to build. However, with many thousands of buoys and remote maritime infrastructure worldwide we believe our significant technology, product and market investments place SRT in a dominant position within this promising new market segment," said chief executive Simon Tucker.

As of 1245 BST, shares had risen 5.45% to 34.80p.
