SRT Marine subsidiary gets order for Panama Canal
SRT Marine Systems announced on Wednesday that it's Em-trak marine electronics subsidiary has received a contract to supply commercial AIS class A transceivers to the Panama Canal.
The AIM-traded firm said its wholly-owned Em-trak subsidiary sells AIS transceivers to commercial and leisure vessels globally, both directly and through a growing network of more than 1,200 dealers.
It said the order for class A transceivers was received via an Em-trak local dealer.
SRT said AIS class A transceivers were certified for use on commercial vessels, and would be installed on tugboats and other official commercial service vessels operating along the Panama Canal, in a bid to improve operational safety and efficiency.
“Like the Suez Canal, the Panama Canal is a critical strategic commercial shipping route and AIS is increasingly relied upon to ensure its smooth and safe operation,” said chief executive officer Simon Tucker.
“The selection of em-trak AIS transceivers for its own service vessels adds Panama Canal to a growing list of leading global marine agencies who choose AIS transceivers developed and manufactured by SRT due to the well-known performance and reliability of our products.”
