One of Synectic's large contracts was extended on Wednesday, providing the firm with security of work in the transport sector for another year, with multinational bus and rail operator Stagecoach.

The AIM-traded company involved in the design, integration, control and management of surveillance and security technology said under the agreement, it would continue to supply, install and maintain CCTV on Stagecoach's 8,500-strong fleet of vehicles in Europe.

Synectics had been involved with Stagecoach for 13 years already, the board confirmed.

In the last three years, it had equipped 1,660 new vehicles with CCTV for Stagecoach, and maintained existing systems across the company's growing fleet.

"This contract extension demonstrates our ability to meet the complex technology needs of large bus and coach fleets," said Synectics chief executive Paul Webb.

"Our deep transport sector expertise combined with our technical capabilities help us anticipate emerging requirements to make sure we have the best solution to hand when it's needed."

The extended agreement would see Synectics continue to support Stagecoach for another year, up to 31 March 2017.
